12 STEN - ET PROFETISK TEGN

THE PAPUAN TRIBESMEN

Song Nr.1

See the tribesmen from the distant island,
see the sun descending in the west
just an hour’s flight from Jayapura
where jungle birds are flying from their nest

From the waves of the Pacific Ocean
to the jungles’ wild lives howl for prey
there’s a thirst for the God of Isaac
- and nothing drives that burning thirst away!

Then the elders of the tribesmen gathered:
see our rivers flow with tears and gold
let’s bring the gold to God’s own Temple
- our tears to the watchman of the fold.

… and so they came, all the Papuan tribesmen,
proud, but weeping in the evening dew
to tell their story from the islands
and ask, that God their fallen light renew!

PART 1

THE PAPUANS SAW THE LIGHT

The Papuans have already come out from their ‘Island’ (the part of the stage which is theirs) and have sung their own national tune and with a drama illustrated the Western ‘story’ about the Papuan tribesmen. Now their music mingles once more into the next melody where the people from the West explain, how they experience the exciting purpose of the visit of the Paradise people. Not only has this people heard the first part of the Bible-story – but they have grasped a new message: The prophecy of Isaiah concerning the appearance of the Messiah from Bozra on the Mount of Edom, and a Holy Way, which must be prepared for Him. (If possible the Papuans will once more illustrate this the song: ‘In the land of the paradise bird’ with a drama).

IN THE LAND OF THE PARADISE BIRD

Song No.3 (in part 1)

In the land of the paradise-bird
a wonderful story is heard
about a way, yes a way
being built in the desert today;
and the paradise-people are coming
to take part and to build and to pray
asking the Lord for His mercy:
that they shall not be turned away.

In the land of the paradise-bird
a wonderful story is heard
about the way of the Lord
‘A holy way’ as prophets have thought,
and the paradise-people are coming
to be dancing, welcoming that day
Messiah appears on Edom,
and they shall not be turned away.

In the land of the paradise-bird
a wonderful story is heard
about Bozra, and the way
and ‘Messiah is coming one day’
And the paradise-people are coming
to prepare in Israel God’s way
asking Messiah for mercy,
that they shall not be turned away.

Part 2:

The Western people, who have heard about ‘the welcome dance’ to the Messiah, now come to meet the Papuan people encouraging them to dance. They sing song no.3, which mingles into the music of the Papuans, who now begin their dance.

Part 3: THE PAPUANS’ WELCOME DANCE TO THE MESSIAH

A WELCOME DANCE TO THE MESSIAH

Song no.3 (in part 2)

You will dance a dance of love
to the One who reigns above
to the One who gives us life
and who ends all bitter strife.

You will dance a dance of light
to Messiah’s great delight
to the God of Israel,
who created all things well.

You will dance a dance so sweet
by a hundred tropic feet
to our great and coming King
come and dance and dance and sing.

… dance against the gods of gloom
dance to Him across the tomb!
Dance in all Messiah’s might
welcoming the Lord of Light

… dance against all tears and sighs
Look! The mount before your eyes;
Melchisedek’s bread and wine
He is coming! Dance and shine!

PART 4: PROPHESIES FULFILLED

"They are coming from a distant land
and Messiah is coming soon
"Surely the islands look to Me
… bring from afar their silver and
gold to the Holy One of Israel. (Is.60:9)

v.5: "Your heart will throb and swell with joy,
the wealth of the seas will be brought to you,
the riches of the nations will come

"Those who are far away will come
and help to build the temple of the Lord,
and you will know that the Lord
Almighty has sent me to you.
This will happen if you diligently obey
the Lord, your God" (Zach.6:15)

AND MESSIAH IS COMING SOON

When the rabbis of ‘the temple’,
white haired men with tearful eyes,
received the gold from Papuan rivers
with lifted hands toward the sky
They said:
"It’s not the gold that makes us weep,
but the prophetic tune:
"They are coming from a distant land
- and Messiah is coming soon.

When the rabbis in the city
saw the tribesmen from the bush
- all daring hunters from the jungle
where there is no hurry and no rush

They said:
"It’s not the gold that makes us weep
but the prophetic tune,
they are coming from a distant land
and Messiah is coming soon.

When the rabbis with the black hats
saw the Papuan empire’s men
they all embraced them and repeated:
"It’s not the gold," they said again.

They said:
"It’s not the gold that makes us weep
but the prophetic tune.
They are coming from a distant land
- and Messiah is coming soon."

When the rabbis with the Torah
gather in Jerusalem
and talk about the Papuan visit
the same words always follow them:
"They say:
"It’s not the gold that makes us weep,
but the prophetic tune:
"They’are coming from a distant land
- and Messiah is coming soon!"
